The Partnership will provide free access to Career Ready 101 from ACT, Inc to 11th grade learners at nex+Gen Academy. Career Ready 101 is a comprehensive career-training course. It is an integrated approach to exploring careers and their skill requirements, building workplace skills using KeyTrain remediation, and creating life-literacy with such skills as financial awareness and job searching. Our students will be accessing the curriculum and the resources during their Advisory/Academic and Career Experience Class (5th period).  Then, in the wintertime they will be formally assessed in WorkKeys from ACT, Inc.  WorkKeys helps ensure that individuals are ready for work—and for life. If students are going to be adequately prepared for the workforce, they need to understand the requirements for jobs they are considering. WorkKeys helps students determine the skill levels required for various jobs.

As part of the Partnership, our nex+Gen students will be participants in a regional research project that could help many other high school students in New Mexico. This research study is about how students can learn workplace skills to make education more relevant while increasing student employability.  It is expected that over 900 students from Albuquerque, Doña Ana County, and Santa Fe will participate in this study.  Nearly 10% will come from nex+Gen Academy.
