Nex+Gen Academy is a small community public APS school of choice. We offer a unique project-based learning environment as part of a proven national model established by the New Tech Learning Network.

ADMISSIONS

nex+Gen Academy is an APS High School of choice.   There is no tuition required to attend.  Students come to us from various places, which is why we require interested students to submit an application.  Admission to nex+Gen Academy is granted through a random selection and is open to all students on a nondiscriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, national origin, creed, gender, ethnicity, behavior, ancestry, disability or academic achievement.

WHAT IS A MAGNET SCHOOL?

Magnet schools are public schools that offer a unique and specialized curriculum. Nex+Gen Academy is the only public school in APS and New Mexico implementing a PBL (Project-Based Learning) curriculum.

nex+Gen Academy fosters a professional collaborative learning environment with rigorous academic standards that prepare students to become self-directed learners. We're a small community school with a capacity of 400 students and a unique culture of trust, respect, and responsibility.  Students are expected to demonstrate independence in learning, self-motivation and autonomy.  Nex+Gen Academy offers a particular emphasis on the unique academic opportunities provided by a collaborative working environment.  Students are expected to build  and demonstrate mastery of standards in core content through dynamic collaboration and technology integration.  Technology is viewed as a professional tool to advance student work.  Students are immersed in a learning environment that closely mimics the workplace with an emphasis on 21st century skills. Assessment is based on a specific set of learning outcomes: content area standards mastery, written communication, oral communication, work ethic and collaboration.

CAMPUS FACILITY

Nex+gen Academy  is an award-winning facility that incorporates an array of collaborative spaces ranging from spacious learning studios to small breakout spaces for small groups of six or eight students.
